Introduction to RAG and Knowledge Assistants

Module 10 Activity

Scenario

Everything so far is a collection of parts. This module assembles them into a workflow with named stages, three outcomes and costed settings.

What you produce

A workflow design: seven named stages with failure modes, a three-outcome routing rule, five failure messages, and a costed comparison.

Steps

  1. Name every stage from question to answer. For each, say what it produces and how it fails.
  2. Write the routing rule with three outcomes - answer, escalate, refuse - using only signals you have already specified.
  3. Write the five failure messages together. Check no two are confusable, and that the restricted one does not confirm what it withholds.
  4. Cost two configurations - a cheap one and a thorough one - in latency and spend, and say what evidence would justify the more expensive one.
  5. Write the design note with every field, including known limits and when the assistant escalates.
  6. Give it to a colleague and ask what they would challenge.
