Module 02 Activity
Activity ID: PAW-M02-A01 Estimated active time: 30-40 minutes
Purpose
Deciding what good means before generating anything is the habit this module exists for. It is also the one most often skipped under time pressure, which is why it is worth practising on five tasks rather than one.
Steps
- Choose five tasks you do regularly.
- For each, write three to six success criteria in checkable form.
- Mark any criterion a reviewer could not verify in ten seconds, and rewrite it.
- For each task, write one sentence on what would make the output unusable.
- Run two of the five and score the output against its own criteria.
- Note which criteria turned out not to discriminate.
Evidence to hand in
- Five sets of criteria.
- The rewritten versions of any that were not checkable.
- Two scored outputs.
- A note on which criteria did no work.
Review checklist
- Every criterion could be checked by a reader in ten seconds.
- No criterion uses a praise word as its standard.
- Each task has between three and six.
- The unusable-output sentence is specific to the task.
