ADNOC, XRG and Microsoft released their latest Powering Possible report on 29 October, based on a survey of almost 400 senior energy and finance leaders. The findings point to wider AI use—but also a gap between investment plans and confidence in energy infrastructure. ADNOC announcement
The share of organisations deploying integrated agentic AI workflows rose from 15% to 33%. Meanwhile, 89% of respondents said they had increased AI spending over the past year, and 63% expected returns from existing investments to cover or exceed costs.
That last figure is an expectation, not proof that those investments have already paid for themselves. These are survey responses, rather than independently audited business results.
The electricity question remains unresolved: 74% expected AI to raise energy consumption by 2030, while only 52% were confident existing infrastructure could meet AI-driven demand. Grid modernisation and smart-grid technology topped the report's infrastructure investment priorities. ADNOC announcement
