Module 3 checkpoint

Module 3 Checkpoint: Counts, Rates, Percentages, and Proportions

Scenario

Two branches report the same figure: branch A had 45 complaints and branch B had 45 complaints. Branch A served 900 customers and branch B served 4,200.

Questions

  1. Convert both to a rate and say which branch performed better.
  2. Which number would each branch manager prefer to quote, and why?
  3. A third branch reports "complaints up 100%". What do you need to know before reacting?
  4. When is a raw count the more useful figure than a rate?
  5. Write one sentence comparing the branches that would survive review.

Pass Standard

You pass when you can convert counts to rates, and can name a situation where the raw count is the figure that matters.
