Module 7 Activity: Outline Builder
Activity ID: AIT-M07-A01 Estimated active time: 35-50 minutes
Purpose
Create a reviewed document or presentation outline for a safe everyday topic.
Use safe, fictional or public material throughout. Nothing in this activity requires a real name, account, record or figure.
Activity Steps
Part 1: Choose a safe topic and reader.
Choose a topic where you know the reader. The reader is what decides the structure.
Part 2: Write purpose, reader, and desired action.
Three short answers. Keep them at the top of the file while you work, and test every section against them.
Part 3: Create a prompt brief for an outline.
Ask for headings with a stated purpose for each, not for prose. An outline is cheap to restructure and a draft is not.
Part 4: Review the outline for flow, repetition, missing evidence, and privacy.
Look for two sections doing the same job, and for any heading you cannot yet fill. Mark the second kind rather than writing something.
Part 5: Revise the outline and record what changed.
Record what changed and why. Anything you removed for repetition is a note for the next outline.
What good looks like
A strong response marks the sections that still need evidence rather than filling them with plausible text.
