AI Tools for Everyday Work / Module 1

Module 1

Module 1 Activity: Task Usefulness Map

Activity ID: AIT-M01-A01 Estimated active time: 30-40 minutes

Purpose

This activity helps you decide where AI tools can help and where they create risk.

It is not a test of how many uses you can find. It is a judgement exercise.

Part 1: Classify five tasks

Choose five everyday tasks from your own life, study, or work. Keep them safe and nonsensitive.

For each task, choose:

  • good fit;
  • careful use; or
  • avoid or approved expert review.

Use this table:

TaskCategoryWhyWhat must be reviewed

Part 2: Add stop conditions

For each task, write when you should stop using AI or ask for human review.

Examples:

  • The task includes confidential information.
  • The output affects another person's opportunity, money, health, job, education, or safety.
  • The answer includes facts that need sources.
  • I cannot explain the output myself.
  • The tone may harm a relationship.

Part 3: Choose one safe practice task

Choose one good fit task for later practice.

Write:

  • What I want AI to help with:
  • What information I can safely provide:
  • What information I must not provide:
  • What I will check before using the output:

Part 4: Write your boundary note

Complete this sentence:

I will use AI tools as assistants for safe drafting, organising, summarising, planning, and review. I will not use them to...

Add at least three endings.

Model guidance

A strong answer does not put every task in good fit.

Good fit tasks are low-risk and reviewable. Careful-use tasks need source checking, tone review, policy review, or manager review. Avoid tasks involve sensitive information, important decisions about people, professional advice, or unapproved confidential material.

Completion evidence

Save:

  • your five-row task usefulness map;
  • one safe practice task;
  • your boundary note.
