AI Tools for Everyday Work / Module 1

Module 1

Practice Setup: Your Task List and Boundary Note

Unit ID: AIT-M01-U05 Estimated active time: 15-20 minutes

Why we prepare first

Before using AI tools heavily, prepare two simple documents:

  1. A personal AI task list.
  2. An AI-use boundary note.

These are not formal policies. They are learning tools. They help you use AI with more care.

Personal AI task list

Create a list with three columns:

TaskPossible AI helpReview needed

Example:

TaskPossible AI helpReview needed
Draft a meeting follow-upCreate first draft and action listCheck facts, owners, tone, and missing decisions
Plan a study sessionCreate checklist and time blocksCheck timing and match to real deadline
Summarise safe article notesCreate short summaryCheck claims against the original source

Start with five safe tasks. Do not include private data.

AI-use boundary note

Now write a short note that starts like this:

I can use AI tools to help me draft, organise, summarise, plan, and review safe material. I remain responsible for the final output.

Then add your boundaries.

Examples:

  • I will not paste private, confidential, or sensitive data into unapproved tools.
  • I will verify important claims before using them.
  • I will not use AI to make important decisions about people.
  • I will ask for human review when the output affects money, health, education, employment, legal rights, or safety.
  • I will reject outputs that I cannot explain.

Keep it visible

This boundary note is not just an exercise. Keep it near your prompt templates.

When AI feels fast and easy, this note helps you slow down.

Quick practice

Write your first version now:

  1. Five safe tasks where AI may help.
  2. Three things you will always review.
  3. Three things you will not share with an AI tool.
  4. Three cases where human review is required.

You will use this in the Module 1 activity.
