Write the prompt brief
Unit ID: AIT-M12-U01 Estimated active time: 15-20 minutes
The main idea
The prompt brief controls the workflow.
Everything downstream — the output, the review, the decision — is shaped by what the brief did and did not say.
Why this matters
A brief is also what makes the work repeatable by someone else. A prompt you improvised cannot be handed over.
Safe example
The brief defines task, audience, safe context, format, constraints, and review criteria.
Six parts. The last is the one most often left empty and the one that makes the rest checkable.
Better working habit
Use the Module 2 prompt brief structure.
Do not invent a new shape for the capstone. Using the one you have practised is the point.
What to watch for
Do not leave review criteria blank.
Without them the review becomes an impression, and you will accept the output because it is there.
Mini practice
Create the final capstone prompt brief.
Then check that someone else could predict the output from it.
Check yourself
Before moving on, answer:
- Are all six parts of the brief filled?
- Could a colleague predict the output from this alone?
- Are my review criteria checkable in ten seconds each?
