HTML/CSS

Primary sources and asset provenance

Technical references were opened and checked on 14 October 2026. These are primary specifications or official documentation. The narrative, project, exercises, worked reasoning, and visuals were written specifically for this package; no documentation article or third-party course was copied. Links may evolve after this date.

The source notes below identify the technical facts checked, rather than claim that a source validates every design choice. The course deliberately avoids frameworks, package-manager setup, and hosting-provider promises that would add changing dependencies.

  1. Module 00: MDN Installing basic software. Editor/browser roles and local-file setup.
  2. Module 00: Visual Studio Code official getting started guide. Optional editor setup; no extensions or account required for core editing.
  3. Module 01: WHATWG HTML sections. Sectioning elements and document structure.
  4. Module 01–02: W3C WAI Page Structure Tutorial. Headings, landmarks, and navigation purpose.
  5. Module 02: MDN Creating links. Relative paths, fragment destinations, and descriptive link text.
  6. Module 02: W3C WAI Images Tutorial. Text alternatives depend on the role of the image.

  11. Module 03: MDN Email input. Email-format constraints and their limits.
  12. Module 03: WHATWG Constructing the entry list. Unnamed controls do not contribute submitted values; basis for the safe static demo.

  16. Module 06: MDN Flexbox. Axes, direct children, alignment, wrapping, and flexible sizing.
  17. Module 06: W3C CSS Flexible Box Layout Level 1. Normative reference for flex layout and automatic minimum sizes.
  18. Module 07: MDN CSS grid layout. Tracks, gaps, fractions, and auto placement.
  19. Module 07: W3C CSS Grid Layout Level 1. Normative reference for track sizing and placement.
  20. Module 08: MDN Responsive web design. Flexible layout and media-query strategy.
  21. Module 08: W3C Understanding Reflow. 320 CSS-pixel equivalent reflow requirement and exceptions.
  22. Module 08: W3C Understanding Focus Visible. Visible keyboard focus requirement.
  23. Module 09: MDN Debugging CSS. Inspecting matched rules and computed styles.
  24. Module 09: MDN Set up a local testing server. Optional local HTTP workflow and why file URLs can differ.

Asset provenance and use

All eleven distinct SVG visuals were drawn as original vector artwork for this package: ten explanatory diagrams and the garden illustration. Repeated copies of community-garden.svg in the checkpoints are identical assets, not additional distinct visuals. Each SVG includes a title and description; HTML embeds have useful alt text, and explanatory figures have adjacent captions.

The two-tone WAV was generated specifically for the optional media lab. It contains no voices, recorded people, music, or sampled third-party material. Its full meaning is in the nearby text alternative. No stock photography, external fonts, remote media, analytics, or third-party embeds are included.

The supplied original course artwork, audio, and code may be adapted for this course and its sample project. Referenced external documentation remains subject to its publishers’ own terms. The links are references, not bundled copies of those pages.

Maintenance boundary

Recheck setup menus, browser behavior, validator interfaces, and hosting choices before a future public course release. Core HTML/CSS examples are intentionally small and standards-based. No claim is made that the sample completes all WCAG requirements or has passed every browser, operating system, assistive technology, or a human beginner pilot.
